OPEN THREAD: Warriors @ Denver - Yea. This one is big.

fsn

Warriors (W-L): 44-27

Nuggets (W-L): 44-28

Time: 6:00PM PST tip off

TV:FSN

Vegas Odds: Denver by 6.5 (source: yahoo.com)

Oooookay.

I don't want to over-blow the importance of tonight (and tomorrow's) games, but tonight game is HUGE. I'm talking Yao Ming big. I'm talking Blue Whale big.

I'm talking free beer big baby. It's big big big big big big big.

Big.

As we sit in the 8th spot for the playoffs with 11 games left in the regular season, tonight we face off against the team that has been nipping at our heels the entire time. We're half a game ahead the Nuggets and half a game behind the Mavs. Yes. The same Mavs we play tomorrow.

Yup. Big. JUMP!

One game. After tonight we'll either be tied with Dallas for 7th place or a half game behind Denver in 9th place. One freaking game will determine this gigantic swing. It's absolutely incredible that the Western Conference is still this volatile with so many games behind us.

So what do we have on our side to slow down `Melo, AI and company tonight? Well, for one thing, this squad is no stranger to an end of the year playoff dogfight. I think that we can all confidently say that our current roster knows the importance of coming out strong every night for the rest of the year.

The most important thing for our boys to realize (and all of us for that matter) is that Denver will be coming out with the same ferocity that we will. This team is has been fighting for our coveted 8th seed for quite some time now and they will take every opportunity to eclipse us tonight and have us nipping at their heels.

Will Baron come out tonight and lead this team? Will Monta fine tune his sniper scope for some of those butter mid-range jumpers? Will Jack be on point from the land of plenty? Is MP2 healthy enough to make it out to play tonight and provide his new found spark? (Seriously I don't know; please update the comments with what you know on that.)

So many factors. Only two results. Seventh place. Ninth place.

Game on.

Be sure to stop in on Jeremy at Pickaxe and Roll to leave some thoughts and check out our Q & A.

EVERY. GAME. COUNTS.

Predictions

* `Melo goes for 20+ but we keep A.I to 15.
* Baron with a big one tonight.
* Monta with a big one tonight.
* Jax hits 4 or more from deep.
* Warriors by 4.

www.slapboyz.com  HOT BEATS !! I WOULD LOVE MAKE BEATS FOR YOU GSOM!! GO W's

by slapboyzproductions on Mar 29, 2008 3:28 PM PDT   0 recs

Tivoing this one.
Hopefully Barnes steps up again in Pietrus' absence (if Pietrus is still injured, I don't know either).

Hopefully Harrington stays hot and keeps stretching the D with his threes.

Hopefully Buke keeps up his recent play.

Hopefully Monta can find that automatic mid range touch again, it makes the game so easy for him.

Hopefully Baron recovered from that flu.

As long as the Warriors play like underdogs, we'll be in good hands. But I'm kind of hoping for an early double digit deficit, because we always play our best after those.

by belilaugh on Mar 29, 2008 3:35 PM PDT   0 recs

hopefully
at least 3 of those factors happen tonight.

by lightz0ut on Mar 29, 2008 6:06 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Pietrus...
will not be playing tonight. He isn't making the trip out to Denver with the team. He was on my fantasy team  and I checked his status today.

by cruzkontrol on Mar 29, 2008 3:41 PM PDT   0 recs

Round 5 of the Octagon
I remember reading a couple days ago that Pietrus is sitting out this Denver road trip.

Otherwise, welcome to the Western Conference, where 5 teams are within 1 1/2 games of the top spot, where 3 teams are within 1 game of each other for the bottom 2 spots, and Utah, who was sitting pretty before, has Denver eyeing them at 2 1/2 games behind.

Every game counts!

HUGE
Ahhhh! I'm kinda freaking out. I'm usually very level headed about these things but this weekend could very well determine our fate... playoffs or lottery. I don't know about you guys but I've had more than my fair share of ping-pong balls in my time as a W's fan. Let's do this!

by olympicmike on Mar 29, 2008 3:56 PM PDT   0 recs

BTW
I sooooo wish that this game was in HD. I'm seriously getting spoiled by that clean picture.

wild west
between Nellie and Karl

it will gonna be up and down game
-who better will manage rhythm and tempo will go away with win

15% advantage for Dubs because of coach

also i think this can be double-double game for AB

-W's by about +10

since pietrus is not playing,
hopefully we can expect moreminutes from azubuike and he should definetely help cause we will need all the people w can have taht are productive against denver. I think mona will have a off night, but baron ad jackson will have killer games. warriors pull this one out in a heartbreaker for denver by agame winning azubuike three and we win 1.

by GSwarrior on Mar 29, 2008 4:04 PM PDT   0 recs

yah
what every happend to Monta's midrange Jumpers? He was almost automatic last month on those. Probably coz he is been driving to the hole more and getting "easy" layups :P

by warrior510 on Mar 29, 2008 4:53 PM PDT   0 recs

Nervous here too
It's an hour and a half away from gametime, but the pregame jitters are already in full effect. This game is so big right now.

by IQofaWarrior on Mar 29, 2008 4:58 PM PDT   0 recs

I think the W's know
what they are up against. It's not the Nuggets team I am worried about. It is the change in altitude which can make it harder to breathe and make players tire quicker. I hope Tommy Abdenour brought the oxygen machine along on this trip 'cuz we're gonna need it. Still, though, I see the Warriors taking this game by about 4-5 points. Remember, Dallas did not do very well playing defense in that second half last thursday vs. Denver and that is why they lost. No intensity, no creating turnovers for easy points, and no victory for the Mavs. They simply did not want it bad enough! Nellie will not let his team to let down or lose focus tonight. These next two games are just too damned important. We win tonight in a closely contested game for the most part and come home tomorrow and slap the Mavs around like a two dollar hooker.............whoooyah biatch!

by mrod on Mar 29, 2008 5:01 PM PDT   0 recs

i m 1000and1% sure

by Lat We N Trash on Mar 29, 2008 5:01 PM PDT   0 recs

This game
is the one I think the Warriors will lose, with them winning versus Dallas. So it doesn't feel like THAT big of a game. But hopefully the Dubs can steal this one and take a little pressure of off the Dallas game.

JR Smith scares the crap out of me. Didn't he get 25 in the fourth a couple games ago? The Warriors are known to leave shooters open, so he'll definitely get his shots.

by belilaugh on Mar 29, 2008 5:07 PM PDT   0 recs

JR Smith...
shot 7 of 8 on 3s in the 4th quarter (along with a layup and two free throws) against Memphis, so yeah, he's scary!  Although some of our Warriors can have a night like that.  Gonna be a sweet game no matter the outcome!
