OPEN THREAD: GAME #7 - PISTONS @ WARRIORS

1110pistons(2)

Warriors (W-L): 3-3

Pistons (W-L): 3-3

Time: 7:30PM PST

I don't think I can remember the last time the Warriors and Pistons had the same record.  Perhaps even more surprising is that the Warriors and Pistons are both at .500.

The Warriors last victory not only handed OKC/NO their first loss of the season, but featured one of the most exciting and perhaps unexpected matchups of the young season (that being Boom Dizzle vs. CP3).  This isn't to say the other Warriors haven't done anything; Monta, A.B., Pietrus have shown major improvement, if not discipline on the offensive and defensive end not seen under the Monty regime.

Lets hope that we get JRich back this game though.  Even though the other Warriors stepped it up without him, we all know how much better we are with him on the court.

Not only that, we need the Warrior girls to bring their best as well.  According to the new dance coach, Susan Hovey, the Warriors are looking to be more like the "Pussycat dolls."  Does she mean the mildly talented singing group?  If so, does anyone really care about any of them outside the lead Nicole Scherzinger?  Or is she suggesting that they're going to be like the lingerie clad Vegas show? At any rate, their contributions are needed as well!  Can anyone offer some updates during the game about their new "Pussycat Doll" routines?

Vegas Odds:  Pistons favored by 3points.

Predictions:

  • Pistons come out gunning after a disappointing loss to the Fakers; Warriors lose by 12 (CORRECTION, Pistons beat the Fakers last nite)
  • Ike lights up Piston bigs for 20-8
  • Lots of high fives between me and my friends!
  • Cussing at the TV every 5 minutes

Make sure to drop your vote for who you think will win and give us your prediction for who will win and by how many points in the Comments.

If you're watching or listening near a computer, post any comments you have during the game right here.

umm...
"Predictions:
    * Pistons come out gunning after a disappointing loss to the Fakers"

The Pistons beat the Lakers by like 15.

But anyway, I think Detroit will take this one by at least 10.

by jrich23 on Nov 11, 2006 11:12 AM PST   0 recs

We got this!
I remember last year the game (home one if I remember right) was super close and Dunleavy made a huge mental error by not fouling Ben Wallace when he was going for a layup after the Pistons beat the Warriors full court press. With Nellie at the helm mental errors like that are going to be reduced. I don't know why, but I'm predicting the upset. The Pistons are playing a back-to-back on PST. It's way past their bed times! The Dubs should be able to steal this one after a night off.

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 11:19 AM PST   0 recs

you're right...
Thanks for noting, I fell asleep before the game ended and think i had a dream that the Lakers won.

by dj fuzzylogic on Nov 11, 2006 11:19 AM PST   0 recs

Dream?
i had a dream that the Lakers won.

You call that a dream, more like a nightmare I think.  LOL

Was that a re-run?
"Pistons come out gunning after a disappointing loss to the Fakers; Warriors lose by 12"
Then last night we musta been watchin a re-run of the pistons winning some other time:) ?? Damn what a waste of time!!
I'll go with the warriors, I think Baron feels like the team has a chance to win now so he'll go off. Also Tashan prince will show dunleavey how a frail guy can really play, dun's a fast learner and will get it by the middle of the second quarter. Hope the boys taunt Rasheed into a couple of T's too. Does anyone know who's on the inactive list for tonight?

by Skeptic con Urquell on Nov 11, 2006 11:24 AM PST   0 recs

history
as i said before the last game, the warriors have alternated wins and losses so history says we lose tonight. hopefully the warriors can change history!!! as for the predictions, i know that last one will definitely come true for me! and unfortunately ike is out so that second one won't be happening.

Ike
Ike not gonna play for like a week

by bor887 on Nov 11, 2006 12:28 PM PST   0 recs

IKE DIOGU
no way he's coming back for this game.  an ankle sprain will keep him out for at least a week, not 3-4 days.

by chimp on Nov 11, 2006 12:39 PM PST   0 recs

Didn't Ike...
... have a break-out game against the Pistons last year?  He owned RW for like 20+ points.  That was the beginning of Monty's ill-fated "Ike at center" experiment.  Too bad Ike's not playing tonight.  He would have all kinds of confidence against these guys.

by krawdaddee on Nov 11, 2006 1:32 PM PST   0 recs

Warriors WIN tonight!!
I hope our Warriors win tonight against the ugly Pistons!! I predict a 12 point Win!!!
Go Warriors
ps: Since I dont live in the US (but I´m a huge Warriors fan), I´m never able to watch the games live, but I´m still searching for a site with the Warriors game in torrent so that I can download them and watch them the next day. I´d be really happy if someone helps me.
Best Regards everyone

Try Google video/ NBA League Pass/ Slingbox?
All of the NBA games are archived on Google video for purchase after the games. Last time I checked it was about $4 a game. I've heard mixed results about the quality though. Someone told me they bought a game and the video cut off in the middle of the 4th quarter once.

There's also NBA League Pass which now offers online viewing too. It should run you about $175.

Another option would be to connect a SlingBox to a friend's cable box who lives in the Bay Area or has NBA League Pass.

The nerve of these TV stations! You would think that all Warriors games would be broadcast live on CNN worldwide or something.

Warriors Nation represents!

Tough win
I think they can pull one off tonight, but it won't be easy.  I think we'll see another great PG matchup with Boom Dizzle and Chauncey Billups going at it.  With Big Ben out of Detroit, this Dubs have the ability to rebound well this game, and I think if they keep that stat close, it will Determine the game.

Chauncey misses a 3 to tie the game at the end, and Baron hits 2 free throws to secure the win, Warriors by 5...

Prediction
Warriors lose 91-83

by DaAzNJRiCh on Nov 11, 2006 3:58 PM PST   0 recs

2 Wins in Row?
Rip Hamilton and JRich are both questionable.

I'm predicting free throws and limiting the ill-advised threes will determine the game. Also, it'd be nice to see Wagner make his NBA return, considering JRich is still nursing the knee, and Baron has been playing a ton of minutes.

Prediction
Warriors win 867-0

by reppin the bay on Nov 11, 2006 4:53 PM PST   0 recs

Warriors 867, Pistons 0?
Now THAT would make my weekend!

(haha, I know it's probably a typo, but still it's pretty nice)

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 5:09 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

we need tha jrizzle
dont care what record the pistons have or that they lost Big Ben.  Still a quality club which weve had success against in the past.  Gonna be a good game but we need jrizzle!

by jrizzle on Nov 11, 2006 5:48 PM PST   0 recs

gotta worry about..
detroit's zone defense. it wrecked the lakers, and we don't exactly have a team full of shooters either--though the outside bombs looked great on thursday. can we keep it up? how about 60 points solely coming from corner 3's?

first post
is it me or do the writers of that Pistons blog seem a little too apathetic? i mean, if they were fans of basketball they'd at least do a little bit more work on that game preview.

thats why i like it here at GSoM, you guys take every single game, rumor, and pretty much anything Warrior, with such passion that it's obvious that you guys really love the team.

woot, my first post!

Ronald Reagan was a jerk.

by Nooob on Nov 11, 2006 6:23 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

Welcome Brand Nooobian!
Haha, seriously. What's wrong with us? We're not the ones with a team contending for the title. We're fans of a team that's been in the Western Conference gutter longer than Shawn Kemp first discovered twinkies.

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 7:01 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

haha
they don't even have a single commment on their website.  what crappy fans they have.  the warriors have the best fans on the planet!!!

they don't have a single comment on the preview for tonights game on their website

99-98 Ws

by Zorgon on Nov 11, 2006 6:41 PM PST   0 recs

O Ye of Little Faith
Comments:

If the W's win, it is not an upset. The Pistons are through. Big Ben leaving devastated them playuer-wise and emotionally. The Pistons are highly overrated at this point.

Sure, sprained ankles usually take weeks to really heal. But NBA team trainers have all sorts of tricks to get an ankle ready for a game.

I pick the W's to win. The Pistons may be kind of tired after last night.

by pineriver on Nov 11, 2006 6:57 PM PST   0 recs

Very true
The Pistons aren't what they used to be, but they're still much better than the Warriors.

I expect a close game and a win for the Warriors because the Pistons are on the second of a back-to-back. Game time is less than 30 minutes a way!

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 7:13 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

Oh, yes,
the Dubs will pull this one out. The Pistons will be tired on the bad end of back-to-back road games (think Warriors vs. Hornets earlier this week, after the win vs. Dallas). The fatigue will help our rested guys run tonight.

Warriors by 7.

Finally hoops hope in the City Of Dope?

by oaklandish on Nov 11, 2006 7:03 PM PST   0 recs

The Warriors should play
Foyle for old times sake before they buy out his contract. Please?

by Zorgon on Nov 11, 2006 7:12 PM PST   0 recs

STRAIGHT UP
I'ma be rooting for him tonight (haha, just like every night). I wanna see him get 5 blocks at least!

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 7:15 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

come on guys
kind of a noob to this site as well, but its easy to see that this is the #1 site for any warrior fan.

THIS WILL BE AN UPSET if we win.  we are not(should not be) the favored team/  We win one game against the hornets and all of a sudden we are favored over DET?  We are definetly the underdog here.

The win against NO/OK we shot 52%! 38% on threes! (in the fitz voice). We wont do that every night.

underdog status for tonight-cemented.  will b happy with a win.

by jrizzle on Nov 11, 2006 7:12 PM PST   0 recs

the game last year was so close in Oakland! We will figure it out and get it done. 103-99. Go Warriors!

Starting lineup to open the game
Baron
JRich
Monta
Murphy
Biedrins

Nellie with ANOTHER new lineup. Glad to see he's mixing things up.

* No Ike Diogu tonight

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 7:42 PM PST   0 recs

Nice pass JRich to Biedrins
JRich looking sharp so far. Not sure if he can elevate tho.

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 7:44 PM PST   0 recs

BD playing aggressive
Nice steal on Rasheed on drive to the bucket.

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 7:45 PM PST   0 recs

Wallace
Has not been himself this year soo far.

0 points versus the Kings?

I predict a Warriors win, after Sheed has to play anxious after his technical foul, probably for looking at the ref or throwing his arms up after a foul.

They always know his number.

by back2back51s on Nov 11, 2006 7:48 PM PST   0 recs

Nellie Knows
BD picks up 2 early fouls, but Nellie keeps him in the game. Next play- BD gets another steal and then takes it coast to coast.

Make that ANOTHER steal by Baron!

Nellie knows!

detroit commentators
"if you let them, they (Warriors) will take the bad shots..." (Jrich missed three on the break)

Terrible showing by the Ws tonight
23-7 Pistons for anyone not watching. We need some Foyle to win.

by Zorgon on Nov 11, 2006 7:53 PM PST   0 recs

Haha
Nice try but Dubs up 21, 8-31 home team!

With such a huge lead Foyle might be in there in the 3rd/4th "Garbage time"?

by back2back51s on Nov 11, 2006 8:01 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

Unbelievable!
Warriors scorching hot on offense and very, very solid on defense. Very Impressive.

it's too good to be true. IT just seems liek a dream that we make this amount of shots.

Monta, MP2, Murph, JRich

Very nice.

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 7:58 PM PST   0 recs

So, Atma
Do you still think the Warriors need to take a sip of that Jolt?

I sure don't.

by Zorgon on Nov 11, 2006 8:00 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

Oh 4 sure
There's still a lot of flaws on this team. What we're seeing is a tired Detroit team and the Warriors playing out of their mind.

I'll never get to get that statement back....

Don't worry man. I'm with you on the KEEP FOYLE campaign. I say buy out his contract and move him to the Warriors front office!

If anyone wants to know....
Record for lowest points scored in an NBA game after the Shot Clock was Implemented:

48, by the Jordanless Bulls in 98-99.

Probobly won't happen today, but something to look for.

by Zorgon on Nov 11, 2006 8:05 PM PST   0 recs

Lowest points in a quarter
2 by our Dubs against Toronto a few years back.

We still had uncle Cliffy out there in that game.

by back2back51s on Nov 11, 2006 8:07 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

Ouch.
That hurts. One basket in 12 minutes, that INCREDIBLY bad. (I had no league pass back then.) Whats so bad about Clifford Robinson? I mostly know him thoguh video games. (Again, never saw Ws on Television till last season.)

by Zorgon on Nov 11, 2006 8:09 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

It wasn't a knock on Cliff
it was more to relay what season that game was from by bringing up a player who was on the team then.

The man still gets burn at age 40(?), he was in the Heat-Jersey game the other night.

by back2back51s on Nov 11, 2006 9:15 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

End of 1st Warriors up 32-16
Yup, you read the score correctly.

Warriors bringin the ENERGY tonight!

Dunleavy misses both FT's
I just don't get it. His form looks fine, but he just can't shoot.

by Atma Brother ONE on Nov 11, 2006 8:28 PM PST   0 recs

Dunleavy's freethrows...
If you looked at his face when he shot his ft's... you could tell that he was shooting them without care.  I mean it really looked like he wasn't giving any effort on the floor at all.  I guess that happens when you're used to starting your whole career and all of a sudden you're playing garbage "let's give our starters a rest while we have a huge lead" minutes in the second quarter only.  He should really try to play with passion if he wants playing time.
